It depends what you mean by “hurt”.

My wife, for example, might allow me to “torture” her in a BDSM context, if it meant someone giving us a million dollars. That’s not really our thing; but experiencing temporary discomfort or pain in order to help ensure the family’s financial security might be worth it to her.

If that’s the kind of “hurt” I would need to inflict; she would probably get upset if I turned it down.
